It will hold a child up to 30 pounds in the bassinet position and up to 50 pounds in the playard position, so it can be used longer than a mini. It is quite versatile, since it can be used for one or two children at the same time and will convert from a co-sleeper bassinet (which secures right up next to an adult bed) to a free-standing bassinet, and also to a playard. One of the sides of the co-sleeper bassinet and playard can be lowered to make it easier to get your child in and out.We used the co-sleeper for approximately 4 months with our 4th child. Although we could have used it longer, he now sleeps in our bed. It would be very useful for a family that wants to keep their baby close, but not in their bed. It really helped us get a better night's sleep when our baby was small as he could be fed and put right back to sleep with minimal disturbance to everyone.We have kept the co-sleeper in excellent condition.  I cannot find any flaws on any parts of the co-sleeper.
